Bowl Goals: 5 Smoothie Bowl Recipes
Colorful, creamy, and ready by the spoonful
Here's a little story...
A few months ago, Brocha Geller joined my Post-Sukkot 5-Day Reset. After the program, she reached out to tell me how much she had enjoyed it, especially the recipes. What I didn't know at the time was that she is a photographer and stylist for Binah Magazine.
One conversation led to another, and a few months later, here we are. This week, I had the privilege of contributing five smoothie bowl recipes to Binah's summer issue. Three sweet and two savory, all created with the same philosophy I teach inside the Reset: simple, nourishing food made with balanced ingredients, fiber, protein, healthy fats, and plenty of flavor.
A huge thank you to Brocha for making the connection and for bringing the recipes to life through her beautiful photography and styling. Seeing them on the pages of Binah is really special.
You'll find all five recipes below. And if you want a taste of the kind of food I teach inside the Reset, keep scrolling to grab a free sample day.

When most people hear "smoothie," they picture something sweet, colorful, and topped with fruit. But what if I told you a smoothie could also be savory, warming, and deeply satisfying?
And what if I told you that you can turn it into a bowl, eat it with a spoon, and make your meal more mindful? It could be your breakfast, your lunch, your light supper, or your most creative summer meal. Healthy eating can be easy, creative, and deeply satisfying, without complicated rules or giving up the foods you love. That is exactly what I want to show you here.
Smoothie bowls are one of my favorite ways to show that. In one bowl, you can pack in fiber, protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, all in a way that feels like a treat.
The options are truly endless. You can go sweet or savory, light or hearty, tropical or Mediterranean. You can sneak in greens without tasting them, boost your protein without any effort, and create something beautiful in minutes.
The five bowls I am sharing here were created for Binah Magazine, tested in my kitchen and balanced to keep your blood sugar steady, your energy up, and your body truly nourished. Three are sweet, two are savory, and every single one will surprise you with how good healthy can taste.
I turned the full feature into this blog post with Binah's full permission. Between us, the printed version looks even more beautiful than any screen could show, so if you get your hands on this week's issue (Vol 20, Issue 986), flip to page 44 to see it in print.
I hope they inspire you to get creative.

Smoothie Bowls: Where It All Began
Smoothie bowls were born from a simple idea: take everything you love about a smoothie and turn it into a meal. The blended base stays thick and creamy, you pour it into a bowl, and instead of drinking it through a straw, you slow down, add your toppings, and eat it with a spoon. That small change makes all the difference. It becomes more satisfying, more nourishing, and honestly, more fun.
And once you discover that the base can be savory too, the possibilities become truly endless.
Why smoothie bowls are so healthy
- Packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, all in one bowl
- Easy to digest, which means your body absorbs the nutrients more efficiently
- Great for blood sugar balance. Each bowl here includes a healthy fat or protein, and that combination keeps your energy steady throughout the day
- A simple way to eat a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and greens in one meal
- The toppings add extra nutrition, texture, and satisfaction that a regular smoothie simply cannot offer
Why blending works
- When you blend your food, you support your digestive system. Your body does not have to work as hard to break down the nutrients
- Instead of preparing and eating cup after cup of greens and fruit separately, you pack it all into one beautiful, nutrient-dense bowl
The bowl upgrade
Because you eat a smoothie bowl with a spoon, you naturally slow down. You chew your toppings. You are present with your meal. That mindfulness supports better digestion and greater satisfaction. And the toppings are not just decoration. They add crunch, healthy fats, extra protein, and nutrients that turn your bowl into a complete, nourishing meal.
Building your perfect bowl
Spinach Berry Smoothie Bowl
Yield: 2 servings

As seen in Binah Magazine's Relish · Photo: Brocho Geller
You will not taste the spinach, I promise. What you will taste is a thick, sweet, berry-packed bowl that quietly delivers a serious dose of greens, fiber, and plant-based protein from chia seeds. The chia is soaked first, the way it should be, so your body absorbs every bit of goodness. It is the kind of breakfast that sets the tone for the whole day.
Smoothie Base
- 1 cup coconut milk (beverage style)
- 4 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 cup frozen berries (mixed berries or strawberries)
- 1 cup fresh spinach
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup pineapple, chopped (fresh or frozen)
Toppings
- Crushed nuts of your choice (almonds, walnuts, or pecans)
- 4 tbsp shredded coconut (unsweetened)
- ½ cup fresh blueberries
Directions
Soak chia seeds in coconut milk for 10 minutes to allow them to soften and release their nutrients. Place it with the milk it soaked in, in a high-speed blender with frozen berries, spinach, frozen banana, and pineapple. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed. You want a thick consistency to eat with a spoon, not a drinkable smoothie. Divide between 2 bowls. Top each bowl with crushed nuts, shredded coconut, and fresh blueberries. Enjoy immediately with a spoon.
Healthy Glow Smoothie Bowl
Yield: 2 servings

This bowl is a full anti-inflammatory reset from the inside out. Kiwi and pineapple bring vitamin C and digestive enzymes, ginger calms inflammation, spinach delivers iron and folate, and hemp seeds add a complete plant protein. It is dairy-free, light, and bright, and the cacao nibs on top give it just the right amount of crunch.
Smoothie Base
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 2 kiwis, peeled
- ½ cup fresh pineapple, chopped
- 1 celery stalk
- 2 cups fresh spinach
- 1 inch piece fresh ginger, peeled
- 4 tbsp hemp seeds
Toppings
- Raw cacao nibs, for crunch
- Crushed pineapple
- Pomegranate seeds
Directions
Place almond milk, kiwis, pineapple, celery, spinach, ginger, and hemp seeds into a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth and creamy and thick enough to eat with a spoon. Divide between 2 bowls. Top with cacao nibs, crushed pineapple, and pomegranate seeds. This bowl is best enjoyed immediately after blending.
Apple Pie Green Smoothie Bowl
Yield: 2 servings

Warm spices, creamy Greek yogurt, and the natural sweetness of apple, all in a bowl that actually keeps you full. The beet greens (alei selek) are a hidden powerhouse of vitamins and minerals, and the chia seeds are soaked to make them easier to digest so your body can actually access and absorb the omega-3s, fiber, and minerals inside. The cinnamon apple cubes on top make it feel like dessert. Comfort food that takes good care of you.
Smoothie Base
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 4 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
- 2 cups fresh beet greens (alei selek) or spinach
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
Toppings
- Apple cubes, dipped in cinnamon
- Chopped nuts of your choice (almonds, walnuts, pecans)
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, watch for bugs)
- ½ cup fresh blueberries (optional)
Directions
Soak chia seeds in almond milk for 10 minutes to allow them to soften and release their nutrients. Place the soaked chia seeds (with the milk it soaked in), Greek yogurt, apples, beet greens, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg into a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth and creamy and the texture is thick and spoonable. While blending, prepare the apple topping. Toss apple cubes in cinnamon. Let them sit for 10 minutes so the cinnamon flavor is absorbed. Divide the smoothie between 2 bowls. Top with cinnamon apple cubes, chopped nuts, and fresh mint and blueberries if desired. Enjoy with a spoon, slowly and mindfully.
Gazpacho Garbanzo Bowl
Yield: 2 servings

This one is close to my heart. Growing up in Spain (yes, I am Spanish, if you did not know) gazpacho was always in our fridge. On hot summer days, we would open the door and drink it straight from the pitcher. Cold, fresh, and full of vitamins. Nobody called it healthy. It was just what we ate, and it was delicious. When I became a nutrition coach, I wanted to bring that memory into something more complete by adding the missing protein, and the chickpeas were the answer. They add plant protein, fiber, and staying power, turning a beloved childhood staple into a fully in-balance meal.
Smoothie Base
- 2 ripe tomatoes
- ½ long cucumber
- 1 red pepper
- 1 small onion
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1½ tsp vinegar
- 1 cup cooked chickpeas
- ½ cup water (add more for consistency)
- ½ tsp salt, adjusted to taste
- ¼ tsp black pepper, adjusted to taste
Israeli Salad Topping
- Chopped tomatoes, red pepper, and red onion
- Fresh parsley and spring onion
- Drizzle of olive oil and vinegar
- Salt and pepper, for seasoning
Additional Toppings
- Baby cucumbers, thinly sliced
- Chickpeas, for texture
- Drizzle of olive oil and fresh herbs
Directions
Combine chopped tomatoes, red pepper, onion, parsley, and spring onion. Dress with olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. Set aside to marinate. Place tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper, onion, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper into a food processor. Blend until smooth. Add chickpeas and water. Blend until it becomes a thick, spoonable consistency, adding more water gradually if needed. Divide between 2 bowls. Top with the Israeli salad, thinly sliced baby cucumbers, extra chickpeas, a drizzle of olive oil, and fresh herbs. Serve immediately and enjoy with a spoon.
Mediterranean Lentil Bowl
Yield: 2 servings

As seen in Binah Magazine's Relish · Photo: Brocho Geller
Lentils are one of the most protein and fiber-rich plant foods you can eat, and when blended with tahini, garlic, and a touch of cumin, they become something deeply satisfying and completely unexpected in a bowl. The cherry tomatoes on top bring freshness and color, and the tahini drizzle ties it all together beautifully. Rich, grounding, and full of Middle Eastern warmth.
Smoothie Base
- 2 cups cooked lentils (brown or green)
- ½ cup tahini
- 2 small garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ¼ tsp cumin
- Fresh coriander or chives
- ¼ cup water (add more for consistency)
- ½ tsp salt, adjusted to taste
- ¼ tsp black pepper, adjusted to taste
Toppings
- Cherry tomatoes, halved (be generous, they bring lots of flavor)
- 1 tbsp cooked black or green lentils (for texture and color)
- Fresh chives or coriander
- Thinly sliced leek or scallion
- Drizzle of olive oil and tahini
- Sea salt
Directions
Place lentils, tahini, garlic, olive oil, cumin, herbs, water, salt and pepper into a food processor. Blend until smooth and thick like hearty soup, adding more water gradually until you reach the right consistency. Divide between 2 bowls. Top generously with halved cherry tomatoes, a spoonful of whole cooked lentils, fresh chives or coriander, thinly sliced leek or scallion, a drizzle of tahini and olive oil, and a pinch of sea salt. Serve immediately.
"Nobody called it healthy. It was just what we ate, and it was delicious."
Smoothie bowls are one of the easiest ways to eat well and actually enjoy it. And here is a little secret: kids love making them too. It is the easiest way to get them to try greens and superfoods without even knowing it. When they are hungry and bored, hand them the toppings and let them decorate their own bowl.
So this summer, get creative, eat well, and enjoy every spoonful.
